New employer grant to boost quality in early years education

A new employer grant to boost quality in early years education, including paid degree apprenticeships, will help 400 early years staff upskill and qualify as teachers, strengthening the workforce and improving outcomes for children. This early years teacher degree apprenticeship allows staff to earn while learning, boosting skills and creating clear routes to higher pay, making the profession more attractive for recruitment and retention. 
Evidence shows graduate-level staff significantly improve child development outcomes.

Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine 

Children are now offered the MMRV vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox (varicella). They are offered 2 doses of the vaccine when they are 12 months and 18 months old. Older children born on or after 1 January 2020 are also offered 1 or 2 doses of the vaccine.
