Hackney childcare sufficiency assessment

Legislative background

The Childcare Act 2006 gives local authorities a key role in shaping the childcare market. It reinforces the partnership with providers from the private, voluntary, independent and maintained sectors that are necessary to create a diverse childcare market to meet parental needs.

Local authorities have a duty to secure sufficient childcare, so far as it is reasonable practical, for parents in their area.

Hackney's childcare provision assessment provides an analysis of supply, demand and sufficiency of childcare.
