Pathway 3: Dialing-In - Growing Great Leaders
We are working with Inspiration for All to match education leaders with professionals from the business world. Quality leadership is a key influence on school effectiveness, culture and individual performance, and is critical to the success of young people.
Leadership can be exhilarating, demanding and tricky. It can also be lonely. Pathway 3 will provide you with someone, an experienced professional, who can help you become the best leader you can be.
This programme will support post holders at senior levels. It is suitable for leaders with strategic responsibilities looking to take their practice to the next level.
About Pathway 3
This programme has been specially created to support and develop leaders at senior levels in schools through mentoring from business leaders. It is bespoke and designed to provide support for anyone in a senior leadership position, particularly executive headteachers, headteachers, deputy heads, assistant heads, business managers and finance directors. It is suitable for experienced leaders looking to take their leadership to the next level as well as newly appointed senior leaders.
Leadership can be a lonely, tricky business. This programme provides you with someone to stand shoulder to shoulder with, someone objective, who can provide the professional space that will help you become the best leader you can be. The programme provides a time for you to step back and reflect on your skills, and actively seek to develop a more finely tuned set of approaches to help you lead even more effectively.
This is a co-mentoring programme where you are matched with a successful leader in the business world who can provide external support and stimulus for developing wider leadership skills, bringing a non-judgmental, external perspective. You will learn from each other’s experiences in a mentoring partnership where you both grow as leaders. By working with a mentor from outside education you will learn about different approaches to leadership which will build your own practice and skills. The content will be driven by you and your needs, so this is a flexible, supportive and responsive set of professional conversations designed to build your confidence and skills.
Course objectives include:
- To master expert leadership skills
- To share your experiences with a business leader in a co-mentoring relationship where you both develop
- To provide a safe space to discuss and overcome leadership challenges
- To provide useful contacts in the business world
The content will be driven by you and your needs. This creates a supportive and responsive dialogue with someone who knows how to listen and ask the right questions.
There will be nine, one hour sessions per month throughout the school year (October to June). The sessions will take place online and/or face to face. They will be at a time and place to suit you, and can take place during scheduled school time to make it accessible for leaders with busy timetables.
Please note: Places for this course are not free as part of the CPD package
