The Hackney Childminding Team aims to ensure children receive the highest quality care in childminding settings across the borough. We provide information, support and a programme of ongoing professional development for registered childminders in Hackney.
Centralised training
Registered childminders and childminding assistants have access to a wide range of centralised training. You can access training that is offered to early years settings, as well as bespoke sessions for childminders.
We also hold an annual early years conference that childminders can attend.

Childminder Professional Development Workshops (PDWs)
Childminder Professional development workshops run termly at Linden Children and Family Hub and are open to all registered childminders and childminding assistants. They provide a valuable opportunity for childminders to get together and share best practice.
Hackney Childminding pre-registration training
The Childminding pre-registration course is a bespoke local authority approved course offered to those wishing to become a registered childminders with Ofsted.
The course includes an introduction to safeguarding and child protection, Health and Safety, Healthy Food, Brain Development, Child development, Assessment, Inclusion, SEND, partnerships with parents and support to manage your childminding business.

Resources for registered childminders
Registered childminders who have completed the Hackney Childminding Pre-registration Course or learners currently attending, can access a dedicated resources space. This offers a range of information including safeguarding requirements, policies and course materials. The resources are accessed using a username and password.
