School leadership space for equity and race

A safe space for appreciative inquiry

Since 2020, Hackney Education has provided a virtual space for school leaders to discuss issues of equalities and anti-racism. We are excited to relaunch this space and invite Headteachers and school senior leaders to participate in the conversations about equity and race. The conversation will be a continuation of what was started at the symposiums in October 2022.

We want to provide a safe space for appreciative inquiry which places the Hackney child at the centre of our discussions and actions, whilst ensuring that we have a collective practice towards equity and race across our Hackney school system.

We are excited to announce that Rosemary Campbell-Stephens MBE will be facilitating the discussion in all the sessions. Rosemary Campbell-Stephens MBE is a veteran educator and anti-racist activist with a life-long passion for and commitment to social justice and equity.

The term and concept 'Global-Majority' was brought into prominence and is attributed to her in the context of school leadership when she began using it in 2003 as a key driver of her leadership work through the London Challenge initiative.
