We provide a comprehensive uniform grants service for Hackney children in Year 7 on behalf of Hackney schools and academies.
What's included?
This service includes contacting parents of Year 6 pupils with information about how to apply, providing an online application for parents to complete, assessing each child’s eligibility and arranging payment of the uniform grant value direct to the parent/carers bank account.
We also provide face to face and telephone support and timely invoicing to schools with details of school uniform grant recipients.
Applications for children due to start secondary school in September are processed from May of the same year. Applications for children already in Year 7 are processed within 10 working days of receiving the application.
In addition to the annual service cost, academies will be charged the cost of each uniform grant issued. The standard uniform grant value is £100 but as an academy, you can decide the amount you wish to issue to the family and be recharged.
Key statistics
Over 700 Hackney children in Year 7 benefited from a school uniform grant in 2023/24, which equates to approximately 30% of those offered a school place.
