Discover what’s new in our early years and childminders training offer for 2026-27

To support our dedicated network of early years settings, childminders, stay-and-play leaders, and school teams across Hackney, we are delighted to launch the Early Years and Childminders Training Brochure 2026-27.

Designed to respond directly to the evolving early years landscape and increasing demands on practitioners, this year’s programme blends trusted favourites with targeted new networks to keep your practice ahead of the curve.

What’s new for 2026-27

To address the diverse priorities and needs of Hackney providers, we’ve introduced several new forums and termly meetings. These include:

  • Nursery teacher forum - led by Hackney’s 'outstanding' nursery school headteachers, this new forum is specifically tailored to support school nursery teachers with leadership and pedagogical updates
  • Sustainability network - formed to help settings meet the Department for Education (DfE) requirement to nominate a Sustainability Lead and build an actionable Climate Action Plan
  • Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) assessment support - dedicated sessions focused on effective formative assessment to build a comprehensive picture of each child's progress to inform final summative EYFSP assessments

Returning favourites and essential networks

Alongside new additions, our core programme returns to keep our early years community connected, confident and compliant:

  • Professional network meetings - a vital resource for keeping up with local and national initiatives, policy shifts and updates
  • Multidisciplinary expertise - learn directly from specialist teams on a range of topics including health and safety, literacy, maths, play and Makaton
  • Essential safeguarding, SEND and business training - complete statutory compliance training alongside practical inclusive practice courses designed to boost confidence and drive setting wide impact
