Early help and prevention

The majority of secondary schools in Hackney have an allocated Young Hackney team who will work with school staff to identify students with poor attendance or who require additional support to participate and achieve. Typically, Young Hackney staff will work with the student, their peers and their family on developing their social and emotional capabilities; providing support, challenge and strategies for change. If you would like more information on Early Help services offered by Young Hackney, call 020 8356 7404.

The Young Hackney Substance Misuse Service is available to offer non-judgmental and confidential support to children and young people aged 6–25. Children, young people and practitioners can contact the team through a confidential advice and referral line, 9am–9pm, Monday to Friday on: 020 8356 7377. Alternatively, the team can be contacted via email on: yhsms@hackney.gov.uk

In cases where a safeguarding response is required for children or young people in need or at risk, professionals and members of the public can contact Hackney’s Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on 020 8356 5500 or email MASH@hackney.gov.uk
